About these terms

These terms apply when you use clearbarcode.com ("ClearBarcode", "the site"). The site is run by Silver Pepper Labs Corp., a Wyoming corporation operating from Florida, United States ("we", "us"). By using the site, including by downloading or printing a file from it, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

Free to use, no sign-up

The site and its tools are free, including for commercial use. There are no accounts and no sign-up. What you type is not sent to us; see the privacy policy.

Barcodes, labels and files you make with ClearBarcode are free to use for any purpose, including commercial use. You may print, copy, change, sell and publish them. You don't need to credit ClearBarcode or link to us, the files carry no watermark or ClearBarcode branding, and we claim no rights in them.

The tools use open-source software under its own licenses, listed on the open-source notices page. Those licenses cover the software, not the barcodes you make with it.

Your numbers and data

A barcode only encodes the data you enter. You are responsible for that data and must have the right to use it, for example a GS1-licensed GTIN for products you sell in stores or on Amazon. We don't check who a number belongs to.

Check your barcodes before you print

The tools try to read back each barcode in your browser before you download it. A pass means our reader decoded the image; it is not a GS1 verification. If the check can't run, the tool says so and you can still download, so check the barcode yourself. The check can't test your printer, labels or packaging.

Before you print barcodes in volume or put them on products, print a sample at 100% (actual size), measure it, and scan it with the kind of scanner your buyer or marketplace uses. You decide whether your barcodes and labels meet the requirements of a marketplace, retailer, carrier or customer. We don't proof your labels, and we don't promise that any barcode will scan or how often it will scan. You are responsible for checking that your barcodes are correct and fit for your use.

We don't sell or issue numbers

ClearBarcode does not sell, issue, license or provide U.P.C., EAN, GTIN or other GS1 numbers, and does not point you to anyone who resells them. To get GS1 numbers for your own products in the US, go to GS1 US. See Do I need a GS1 barcode? Test codes made by the tools are marked "TEST ONLY" and must not be printed on products.

Using the site fairly

Please don't try to break, overload or get around the site's security, don't use automated tools to send it large numbers of requests, and don't use it to break the law or anyone else's rights.

No warranty

The site, its tools and the barcodes and files they make are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't promise that the site will be available, error-free or that a barcode will be accepted by any retailer, marketplace, carrier or scanner.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special or punitive damages arising from your use of the site or of barcodes, labels or files made with it. For example, we are not liable for lost profits, relabeling or reprinting costs, rejected or delayed shipments, or other losses caused by errors in a barcode or file. Our total liability for all claims together is limited to US$100.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for fraud, intentional misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury, or anything else the law does not allow us to limit.

Claims about what you make

If someone makes a claim against us because of the data you encode in a barcode, the products you label, or your breach of these terms, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of that claim, including reasonable legal fees. This doesn't apply where our own error caused the claim.

Changes to the site and these terms

We may change or stop the site or its tools at any time. If we change these terms, we will update this page and its effective date. A change applies only to your use of the site after the new effective date.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States.

If part of these terms can't be enforced

If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, that part still applies as far as the law allows, and the rest of these terms stay in effect.
