ClearBarcode

Privacy policy

Effective date:

ClearBarcode (clearbarcode.com) is run by Silver Pepper Labs Corp., a Wyoming corporation operating from Florida, United States. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean the operator of ClearBarcode.

What you type stays in your browser

The barcodes, labels and files you make are created by code running in your browser tab. What you type into the tools is not uploaded to us, and we don't send it to analytics or ad providers. Our release checks include an automated test that our pages don't send what you type.

Your barcode settings go into a link, after a "#" sign, only when you press Share link, Open on your phone or Send to my computer, or follow the calculator's "Make a barcode with this number" link. Anyone who has that link can see those settings, and it stays in your browser's history and in the app you send it through. Our analytics doesn't record it.

What our servers receive

Cloudflare, Inc. hosts the site and receives the usual request information, such as your IP address and browser type, under Cloudflare's privacy policy. We keep no logs of page visits ourselves, but Cloudflare's security reports to us can include the IP address of requests it blocked.

When something on a page breaks one of our security rules, your browser sends us a short report with minimal technical data, such as the rule, the site and page involved and your browser's name and version, never your IP address or anything you typed. Reports are deleted within 7 days.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4, a service of Google LLC, on every page, including the barcode tools, to count visits. It records the page you visit and the page that sent you (without anything after "?" or "#"), your browser, device and approximate location from your IP address, and, besides its own basic page view and visit events, only these events: the barcode type you choose, the file format you download (with the barcode type and page), the size range and output type of a bulk job, and whether the scan check passed, failed or did not run (with the barcode type).

None of these includes what you type or other free text. We send it only these events, never what you type, and an automated test checks that. Its random browser ID is not connected to your name or email. Enhanced measurement and Google signals are off, and data tied to the browser ID is kept for 2 months.

If our host locates you in the European Economic Area (EEA), the UK or Switzerland, or that check fails, Google Analytics does not load at all. Your location comes from your IP address, so it can be wrong, for example with a VPN.

Advertising

We may show ads from Google AdSense, a service of Google LLC, on our three guides only, never on the barcode tool pages or this page. Only Google serves ads on our guides, and visitors our host locates in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland see none.

When ads are shown, third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google's Ads Settings, and of some other vendors' use of cookies at www.aboutads.info.

Cookies and similar technologies

ClearBarcode sets no cookies of its own and stores nothing in your browser. Google Analytics sets two cookies, _ga and _ga_<id>, which last 2 years. Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services and how Google uses cookies in advertising.

Your choices

  • EEA, UK and Switzerland: nothing from Google loads there, so there is nothing to agree to and no consent message. The "Privacy settings" link at the bottom of every page leads to this section.
  • Global Privacy Control: if your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, we tell Google Analytics not to use your visit for ad personalization, and any ads on our guides are requested as non-personalized.

Do Not Track

Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal. There is no common standard for what it should mean, so the site does not change its behavior when it receives one. Google, which provides our analytics, and our ads if we show them, may collect information about your online activity over time and across different websites, including this one, as described in this policy.

Children

ClearBarcode is a tool for businesses and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and we don't ask for sensitive information such as precise location, health or financial details.

Email and contact

There are no accounts, no newsletter, no waitlist and no sign-up form, and apart from emails you send us, we hold nothing we can look up by person. We use your emails only to answer you; ask us and we'll delete them.

Privacy questions and requests: privacy@clearbarcode.com. Anything else, including trouble using the site with assistive technology: hello@clearbarcode.com.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the site handles data, we will update this page and its effective date before the change takes effect.
